Me: Everything I've been reading lately is really meta--books about writers and books and genre conventions--and it's interfering with my writing process. I need to read stories that are just stories and not books about other books.

Me, ten seconds later: Rereads 84, Charing Cross Road and watches a Youtube series about Wishbone.

#in my defense i have none #i just stumbled on youtube videos about both #plus side after i finished 84ccr i immediately wanted to reread last year's inklings challenge story #and it turns out that story is better immediately after reading 84ccr #which i did not expect to happen at all #i was afraid it would pale by comparison and instead the original book elevated it (especially the beginning)#because it was very clear what i was going for #there's a rocky part in the latter part of first act or so but once it gets going i was still invested in the story so i guess it works #but anyway now that *that's* over i am on a strict youtube ban and probably reading ban too #unless it's stuff that will get me in a fantasy mindset #84 charing cross road #wishbone

So, it looks like someone beat me to getting all the songs remade in Heaven Studio XP, but I still think it's cool to see someone else's take on it~ (The thumbnail art goes so hard~)

And with Heaven Studio sniped off the web, and thus probably putting a halt on updates for the foreseeable future, I probably won't be finishing my mixes anytime soon since they depended on games that weren't implemented yet.

So, if I ever want to finish my own project, I'm probably gonna have to suck it up and swap out more of the games.

*sigh* Vs. 1010 just isn't gonna be the same without Freeze Frame...

every time i see bakudeku compared to k/ance (now specifically in terms of them getting shafted in the ending and/or accused of queerbaiting) i take psychic damage

#i am NOT tagging this one mainly because i don't want to bring down the fucking horde of klance shippers on my head #i was there. i was part of the fandom. and i STILL don't understand how or why THAT was the massive ship #y'all are clinging to something that stopped being relevant after SEASON ONE in an EIGHT SEASON LONG show #lance spent the ENTIRE series crushing on (and eventually fully falling in love with) allura #allura who slowly started to reciprocate. allurance CONTINUED to get ship tease EVEN as she fell for lotor #literally 85% of the significant klance moments/interactions were in the first season #i don't know how y'all kept clinging to a ship that gave you absolute scraps #as for keith. again i watched voltron myself. i even BRIEFLY shipped klance when the show first came out #because again - season one was GREAT for them. a strong foundation for a ship! but that foundation was NEVER built upon #then season two hit and i was quite happy to pivot to sheith which is where i remained until the ending #keith spent the entire show very devoted to shiro. you don't have to read it romantically but it's a hell of a lot easier to do so #than ever imagining he'd feel that way about lance after he just. basically stopped caring about him post s1 #meanwhile lance slowly let go of the (one-sided) rivalry and just focused more and more on allura #comparing klance and bakudeku feels like a fucking crime to me.#klance was a once-promising rivals to lovers arc that IMMEDIATELY fizzled out into them being kind of friends.#but specifically The Friends Who Never Hang Out kind. while both parties were lowkey obsessed with someone else.#this ship was NEVER going to happen when it became clear around s4-5 that the writers DID NOT CARE about it at all #(and they went on record saying they were surprised it was so huge!)#meanwhile until the trashfire epilogue bakudeku spent the ENTIRE series obsessed with each other #they were friends to enemies to rivals to friends with everyone HOPING they'd get a canonical 'to lovers' tacked on #they got the MOST development in the series individually and as a pair (platonically or otherwise)#THIS ship had legs and was only denied greatness because it was struck with the typical shounen homophobia curse #PLEASE stop comparing one of the greatest arcs and relationships (even if it stumbled at the finish line)...#that i have EVER seen... to That. to fucking... two bros chilling in a hot tub (five feet apart cause they're not gay)#(except keith MIGHT be. just not for lance. sorry not sorry.)

#(I'm back)#It was. Uhm. A chapter #First of all: I'm ENDLESSLY GRATEFUL to the person who sent me the translation basically as soon as the chapter came out.#I even did like 90% of typesetting but didn't finish it because I had to go out #(aka with my friends were literally knocking out at my room and I couldn't make it any more late lol)#Mixed feelings about it? Mostly because there's so much exposition... I'll need to reread it another three times before it sinks in #The color page is AMAZING 10000000000000/10 I love my sskks so much they're so cute I love them so much they're so cute.#Easily the best part of the chapter.#The color page was? Very very pretty too? Like a lot more than usual if you ask me! I can't wait for the volume cover 🥺🥺#It should come out soon shouldn't it? Usually color spreads / pages open the volume...#Akutagawa fake dying again is funny. Like it isssss but also. Idk it's a little lame how we're changing the pov from ss/kk again :/#I can't even tell if I'm being biased or if it's an actual storytelling critique. I don't care right now I just want to see Akutagawa–#being cool rather than. You know. Dead on the ground.#That said! OKAY, IT'S FINALLY HITTING

#i'm tired of working on a long project i can't start publishing yet!#i've been working on this thing since mid july i think?#early august at the very latest #so i THINK i'm going to take october off and mainly work on my little oneshots for a bit!#it'll push all the plans back by a month but i think it'll be worth it #bc i can't write good content when i'm not having fun with it #(also i think i'm literally the only person who cares about this thing staying on schedule so as long as /I/ say it's fine to push it)#(then it's fine right?)#the amazing news tho is that this is a HUGE stretch of daily writing progress for me #and i am still actively enamored with writing fic #just need a break from writing fic i can't share because the external validation is an important part of the process!#anyway i also think after this big project #i might have a better handle on longform stuff #so it MAY not be so much an issue next time if i figure out how to outline better #so i don't have to rely on finishing the entire fic's rough draft before posting the first chapter

#sooooo...i kinda got wrapped into playing Ocarina for the first time #didn't think id enjoy it as much as I have #found out (truly a grand surprise ((sorry im putting sarcasm definer in the parenthesises..)) I like side quests #and when i say like em #I mean what's main game plot- i will literally COLLECT EVERYTHING given the oppurtunity before halfway point #im like...nearly to 30 gold sklltullas #and uhm..i like...i like learning the enviroments and RUSHING to get places before it gets too dark #oh boy i just thought i'd play it a little bit yesterday #got “in bed” around 9:30 and picked it up to play- it was 1 something in the morning before i stopped #then was like OH SHIT ive got work!#but theres such a joy and excitement of just scouring through everything out here #i dont know why- but i suppose the reputation of zelda games just made me feel like id have to slog through things?#or just like...take things really seriously and...i dunno...its this grand ONCE in a lifetime thing #maybe thats just the image ive gotten from passing youtube videos #the only other Zelda game I've finished before-played YEARs ago was Spirit Tracks and I very much enjoyed it #maybe because Zelda was actually part of it that time haaah #well ive run my mouth long enough im gonna go run back to the mountains

#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops.#and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can!#and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol #finn's ocs #finn's art #i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me #and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun #i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here:#barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past #he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it #he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned #which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them #they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore #but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird #and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place #though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library #and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together #since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door #eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement #barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time.#barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate #but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd #he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself #but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done.#and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies.#and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them)#and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances''#from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov #sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3 #but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

speaking of fantasy authors, have you ever read any of Robin Hobb's work? Can highly recommend if not!

i have wanted to get into robin hobb for YEARS but have no idea where to begin. also, they're all trilogies, which scares me. i don't normally read books that are in a series because once you've read one you have to go out and buy the rest and i am frightened of commitment

#i will read the first book in a series and say 'i liked that very much' and then i will simply never buy the others. it's a mental block #gideon the ninth? best fantasy novel i've read in years. i have never read the sequels.#howl's moving castle? love it. have never read the sequels.#wheel of time? mistborn? parable of the sower? shades of magic?#yeah.#i think it's something to do with the fact that when i go to a bookshop i want to buy something new and exciting #and buying part two of a series feels like a cop-out?#the only trilogy i've finished in years is the southern reach and that was only because i was getting them from the town library

#officially done watching QSMP!!#I watched mainly Fit's POV bc he speaks English and has the most hours on qsmp #i would have watched Philza's but his vods included his hardcore world and made his vods much longer and also spending less time on qsmp #i have watched all of Slime's POV and since he rarely logs on and he cuts his vods it was easy to finish #for non-English speakers i have watched Maxo and Pierre's bc they are the most lore heavy apparently-#and their qsmp povs comes in episodes!! very easy to binge #lore-wise it was great!! sad qsmp was cut short bc of management issues but im glad at least Fit made an effort to make a great ending #as for everyone else's lore ive been relying on clips and compilations #my favorite event is definitely cellbit and roier's wedding bc it was so fuckin funny - i have rewatched certain parts multiples times #my favorite lore would be aypierre's bc his felt more complete and cohesive... maxo is close second... these two are good roleplayers...#Purgatory is another BIG favorite event purely bc of BOLAS ROJAS 😂 the first day was the funniest shit I've seen acted on Minecraft #favorite pair is definitely Deathduo... one bc Philza did a great representation (on purpose or not) of an aromantic character -#two because found family... im a huge sucker for found family stories... Mwahahahaha my first real fic and of course it has to be Tsukasa angst and contain mafukasa drama.

I'm clearly overcompensating for the lack of Tsukasa angst in canon but leave me be okay. SEGA neglects Tsukasa like his parents. I can do what I want. And of course, I'm a sucker for happy endings. I won't nake it end on horrible note.

And I'll try to make it good quality I promise. English isn't my first language [cry] but I'm most comfortable with it and people have told me I'm pretty fluent so hopefully it won't be full of shit...

(Hopefully I've also grown past my wattpad fanfic writer tendencies (I love people on wattpad but a lot of fics there that features x reader would just copy and paste the script, add a bit of description, rewrite tiny bits (aka write the characters fall in love at first sight), and leave it like that. At which point did you realise that the plot of IW is ass? I've seen people complain only about the ending or the halfway point where the teams separate, while I was already actively rolling my eyes like four-five chapters in

i think the moment i fully accepted that IW's story was. Definitely A Story was the moment ebina announced 'bleach japan'. like i think leading up to that point i was thinking to myself 'oh i hope i see X happen' or being like 'i wonder where this is going' and that sort but the proverbial bucket of ice was definitely that moment

The evil slow creep of it being like "haha these will just be quick little side quests, not much effort at all!" and then noticing each one is getting progressively longer than the last, thus no longer being minimal effort.. auGh....

#The jump of 76 for the first one to 275 for the most recent ghghjb #what can I say.. I am.. The Elaborator.. The Detail Giver..#number six will HAVE to be shorter....!!!!!! !!!!#I fear it's going to look this way but opposite with some of the main character quests. The first character I ever worked on. like their #first quest I added wayy to much information and detail and side options and etc.#Once I got done with all their stuff I was like.... if they're all like this I will NEVER finish.. So then I tried to be very short about #it all. EVERY single interaction cannot have 10 branching dialogue and 5 different endings and blah blah blah.. as much as I wish it could.#Hiring a butler to stand over me all day shouting ''NARROW the scope!!!! REDUCE the options!!! CUT the dialogue!!!'' whilst I sob #and hit backspace on everything once every five minutes #But that means probably the first character I worked on will be very obvious because their quests might have a different #feel than the others and be longer.. I just CAN'T make ALL of them that long. but maybe I could choose one..#Like out of the four characters that will have full quests for them upon release.. maybe I can add another one thats long so at least #TWO of them have weirdly long quests and the one first character doesnt seem so singled out lol #I hear this happens in real life professional games as well (like people complaining that X character doesnt have as much #content in an RPG as some other one does. etc.) so.. perhaps my fears about everyting not being exactlyliterally equal #are not even that worrisome or something that's a major factor. Still lol #It's not really that concerning to me anyways from a 'how will people react to it' perspective (very niche game. hardly anyone #will play it i'd assume. its not like thousands of people shall desscend upon me to criticize even if something was weird like that.#it'd be like. out of the 25 people who ever play it. maybe one of them is like 'yeah it was kinda weird that thosequests were so much #longer than the others. but idk' and that's the extent lol). My concern is more like.. Writing time..#the more I add. the longer it takes for me to finish. So if I keep ednlessly making things forever longer and longer. then it becomes The #Forever Project. which it kind of already is. considering I started it in 2018 and then forgot about it for the most part of 5 years and am #only resuming it now LOL.. I cannot bear to add MORE forever onto that which already is quite Forever-ish #If I wrote everything the ideal way I wish it were then I would either need a full team of writers. or I would finish the game in 2085 #so.. alas.. cut cut snip snip..#ANYWAY lol
